Vessel Interception Cuts Delivery Time in Half for Critical Mine Bearings

The Challenge

A shipment of critical mining bearings from Sweden was at risk of a 30–45 day delay after global shipping disruptions rerouted the vessel via Mundra, India, threatening the production schedule at a client’s mine in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The Solution

Rather than accept the delay, CMTL intervened directly with the shipping lines involved, coordinating a mid-transit interception of the cargo at Port Louis, Mauritius. CMTL then arranged a dedicated vessel charter to carry the bearings on to Mombasa, handing off to road transport for the final leg to site.

The REsults

The recovery strategy cut total delivery time to roughly 14 days — around half of the delay the client had been facing — keeping the mine’s project on schedule without costly downtime.
